Another Exhausting Day

An overview of the room as we set up for 100 third graders

Today we had yet another school presentation - this time to the third graders at an elementary school in Northridge, California. We arrived to a group of students learning Frosty the Snowman, which I've had stuck in my head ever since. Saxon impressed everyone with his awesome off-leash recall in the enclosed auditorium surrounded by kids.

After the presentation the kids all got a chance to say hello and pet him. It is so funny to see how differently the students choose to interact with Saxon - some barely run their hands over his back and quickly pull them back, others go in for a hug. The kids wanted to pose for a picture, seen above. There was some discussion before the picture was taken over who would get to hold the leash, but it all worked out.

the white board in the auditorium reads "proffessor poopy pants" (obviously)

  1. That's what I really want for my stuffed, life size lab; a harness. For decoration purposes and so that when I do school presentations I can have the kids feel it and see it and all of that.

  3. @Erin, my leader has special permission to have the harness for just that reason. It is really helpful for little kids who could be afraid of dogs. The stuffed dog's name is Sherman, he's really good at "stay" but is a terrible guide. :) and @Ivanhoe, there is never a dull moment. Saxon put himself to bed at 9 last night and slept for almost 12 hours. Being a puppy is a lot of work.
