This is how Saturna spends most of her day:
Which is why I'm pretty jealous of her lifestyle.Saturna's raisers are some of my favorite people in the world and understand my sense of humor for what it is - juvenile! Together, we've been known to do things like this:
Along these lines, I've developed a theory to explain Saturna's name... The little alien dog.
Here are the main points:
- Saturna loves water and shade - these are her Holy Lands, really - because where she comes from (another planet, obviously) there is little water to drink, let alone to nourish any vegetative life. Without trees, there is little shade on Saturna's planet either. Hence her proclivities towards shady, water filled places.
- Saturna's nose is often really really dry, which must be due to her body's unfamiliarity with Earth's atmospheric components.
- And finally, Saturna, unlike most other guide dog puppies, is not amused by my amazing dancing skills. As a visitor to this planet, she is unfamiliar with human behavior and therefore stands, head cocked to the side, in great astonishment at my movements. Most other canines would join in the merriment...but not Saturna. This, of course, amuses me greatly and much to the disappointment of my friends and coworkers, only encourages me to provoke her silly side even more.

I'll be sad to see her go back to her raisers later today but look forward to seeing her again soon!
Saturna is Garbina's half sister. They look quite a bit a like. I've noticed this with a lot of her half siblings. Their dad must have very dominant genes!
ReplyDeleteWe have another Damon pup in our group, Mollie (who goes back for training next week), you can see her here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/jonesaz/3664012636/
ReplyDeleteShe's got completely different coloring and head shape but a similar body type, although Mollie is much bigger than Saturna. We've met Saturna's sister Stockard, too, who is also much bigger than little Saturna.
They have very similar eyes, though.
Amazing to see all the differences.
